Tina’s Weight Loss Journey
Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Weight Struggle
I reached such a heavy weight for my body that I felt like a prisoner inside my own body and hated it there. Simple tasks for me were very difficult and it got to the point that I became afraid for my own life, that maybe one day I would close my eyes to sleep and I wouldn’t wake up. That scared me into changing.
What Was Your Wake-Up Call Or “A-Ha Moment” That Caused You To Really Commit Yourself To Succeeding?
My husband, who was a United States soldier died, leaving me alone with our children. I realized I was all my kids had and I had to take this seriously so that I could be healthy and alive to care for them.
How Have Your Eating Habits Changed Since Beginning Your Journey? What Did You Eat Before And What Are You Eating Now?
My ways of eating have been completely life-changing—before I had no regard for what I’d eat, I would eat whatever I thought tasted good. Even had an entire pizza myself followed by a whole pie.
I learned to respect nutrition over this journey and all the benefits it has for the body. Now looking back when people would say you are what you eat… it really resonates with me, because the better choices I’ve learned to make for my body, the better results I have gotten and I feel free and powerful, no longer a prisoner in my own body.
What Is The Difference In Your Fitness Before You Started And Now?
Before I started I could barely walk without losing my breath. I had to approach fitness very slowly and lose a bit of weight before I became active.
I started with nutrition which lead me to fitness and now I am very strong and capable, and it’s my passion. I love stepping into a gym and having a moment to really focus on molding my own body.
What Has Been The Biggest Change/Payoff For You So Far?
I lost 338 lbs with healthy eating and I have become comfortable inside my body and able to do so much and hike for hours and climb into waterfalls, etc. Losing the weight has given me my life back and I am excited to explore being active daily with my loved ones.
How Much Weight Have You Lost? How Long Did It Take You To Lose It?
I have lost 338 pounds and it took me 3 years to lose that weight. I then had to rebuild curves in my body with fitness.
My Favorite Recipe
I love to make this simple protein cake:
1 scoop of your favorite protein powder
2 egg whites
Stir together protein powder and egg whites until well mixed.
Add mixture to a small oven-safe baking dish that has been spray with nonstick baking spray.
Bake at 350F degrees until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 10-12 minutes.
Top with jam or honey, if desired.
