Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

There are lots of ways to make hard, or soft, boiled eggs – microwave, stovetop, oven, InstantPot and Air Fryer. While it is possible to make them in the oven, with the growing popularity of air fryers – which are essentially small convection ovens that sit on your counter, the air fryer is a great alternative. The unassuming air fryer heats quickly and allows you to cook many things more quickly and easily than the standard oven.

I am happy to share that preparing boiled eggs (from soft to hard) in the air fryer is now my new favorite method that I use weekly. This allows us to have a constant supply of cooked eggs in the fridge and at the ready, anytime you need a little snack.

Recipe Notes

I used my Cosori TurboBlaze Air Fryer to cook these eggs. This air fryer has a temperature range of 90F – 450F, which allows for a wide variety of cooking options. After experimenting, I discovered that I prefer my air fried hard boiled eggs with a just set yolk which resulted in a cooking time of 15 minutes at 270F degrees.

Adding another minute or two of cooking time will result in a slightly more done yolk, and reducing the cooking time by a minute or two will result in a soft boiled egg with a slightly more runny egg yolk.

Not all air fryers are the same, so it may take a little experimenting to find the correct time and temperature to achieve your desired level of doneness.

Why do my eggs have spots on the shells after cooking in the air fryer?

I also noticed after cooking my eggs in the air fryer, that they had little spots on the shells.

These small spots are nothing to be concerned with and have to do with the hot air circulating in the air fryer while they cook. After cooling the eggs in the ice water bath, the spots will dissolve away from the shells.

My eggs peeled rather easily once cooled. I found it helpful to run the eggs under cool running water while peeling.

How to Store Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs?

If you are not planning to serve your boiled eggs immediately, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
