Set cook time for 10 minutes on HIGH pressure

Step 4: Once the cooking cycle completes, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes and then move the steam release valve to “Venting” position and release the remaining pressure (being careful to not get burned). You may want to cover the release valve with a dish towel as a lot of moisture will be also be released.

Step 5: After the float valve drops, unlock and remove the lid.

Recipe Notes

This simple applesauce is enhanced with a little ground cinnamon. For a spicier flavor, try adding a little cayenne pepper or ginger. In addition to cinnamon, I think nutmeg, allspice, clove or pumpkin pie spice would all work well.

Fresh homemade cinnamon applesauce

This recipe uses peeled apples, but you could always leave the skin on which will add little flecks of color to your applesauce.

While I really like the natural sweetness in this recipe, you could always add a little honey, agave, or maple syrup. Be sure to adjust your WW Points when making any ingredient substitutions.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy this applesauce all by itself—chilled or warm—or with your favorite pork dish.

No added sugar cinnamon applesauce

It can also be enjoyed for breakfast by stirring it into yogurt, ricotta or cottage cheese and topping it with granola, whole grain cereal, pomegranate seeds, dried fruit or nuts.

Or enjoy this cinnamon applesauce as dessert by filling mini fillo shells and heating them in the oven for little faux mini apple pies. It also makes a nice warm topping over a scoop of your favorite low-fat frozen yogurt or ice cream.

Ways to Use Leftovers

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy anytime the craving strikes.
